Schools Improve Direct Certification for School Meal Programs (SNA News)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) yesterday published a report on the state of implementation of direct certification for school meals.  The report, “Direct Certification of the National School Lunch Program: State Implementation Progress,” found that a number of local education agencies (LEA) or school districts, conducting direct certification rose to 78 percent, up from 67 percent last year.

SNA Responds To Institute Of Medicine’s Recommendations For The National School Lunch And Breakfast Programs 

Today, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) released “School Meals: Building Blocks for Healthy Children,” issuing recommendations to update the nutrition and meal standards for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Programs.
