Call for Proposals is now CLOSED.

Proposals will only be accepted through the SNA website on or before October 16, 2009. Any proposals that are faxed or mailed will not be considered.  Please review our tips and guidlines for submitting your proposal.

Notification of proposal status will be mailed by January 22, 2010 to all who submitted a proposal.

Each proposed session should focus upon one of four Key Areas as defined by SNA's Keys to Excellence in School Food and Nutrition Programs.

Special Consideration will be given to those sessions addressing any/all of SNA's 2009/2010 Key Issues for Education: Membership Diversity, Professional Growth, Emerging Issues, Professionalism. Special consideration will also be given to those sessions addressing leadership in school nutrition.
Presentation Title:* The title should be a creative, effective, short description of the objectives and session content. Limit to 10 words or less. This title will be used in SNA marketing and promotion materials, and may be altered at SNA’s discretion should the proposal be selected.
Objectives:* List two to three objectives describing how participants will benefit from this session and what tool(s) or message(s) participants will "take home", as a result of attending the sessions.Objectives should be action statementsand should describewhat participants will be able to do as a result of the experience.Objectives may be defined iin terms of knowledge, skills, or attitudes.Forexample: "After this presentation, the attendee will be able to…”

How pertains to SNA's Key Issues for 2009-2010:  Provide a 2-3 sentence statement explaining the session content. This statement may be used in supportive promotional materials for the session and should reflect the objectives stated above.

SNA encourages proposals that specifically focus on the target audiences.
School Nutrition Employee: Includes cooks, bakers, bookkeepers, technicians, assistants, etc. Includes Child and Adult Care Food Program employees (CACFP); child/day/family/home care center providers.  
School Nutrition Manager: Includes managers, head cooks, and assistant managers. Includes CACFP supervisory staff employees.
District Director/Supervisor: Includes professionals working in the school nutrition program at the school district level in school districts of all sizes. Includes CACFP Sponsors.
Major City Director/Supervisor: Includes professionals working in the school nutrition program at the school district level with specific attention to school nutrition programs serving urban areas and/or school district enrollments greater than 40,000 students.
Industry: Includes manufacturers and/or distributors of food/beverage products, equipment manufacturers and distributors, computer hardware/software and other technology companies, foodservice supply/smallwares companies, and organizations that provide consulting services to the school foodservice profession.
State Agency: Includes professionals working in state offices for child nutrition programs including nutrition education.
College Section Members: Includes professionals working as researchers, faculty, or staff in colleges and universities.

Skill Level of Presentation Content:*
Conference attendees are typically looking for focused sessions that deliver new information or knowledge. SNA encourages submission of intermediate and advanced sessions.

Basic: Assume little to no prior knowledge of area(s) covered. The focus of the activity is to increaseknowledge and application by the participant.

Intermediate: Assumes a general knowledge of the area(s)  covered.  The focus is to enhance knowledge and application of the participant.

Advanced: Assumes thorough knowledge of the area(s) covered. The focus synthensizes recent advances, research, new initiatives, and future directions.
