Chuck Ainsworth Named SNA 2009 Individual Industry Member of the Year
ALEXANDRIA, Va. May 21, 2009 – Chuck Ainsworth, Division Manager for SFSPac Food Service Sanitation Systems Division of the PortionPac Chemical Company was named the seventh recipient of the School Nutrition Association (SNA) Individual Industry Member of the Year Award. Ainsworth, who has been involved with the child nutrition programs for over 15 years, was nominated by SNA past president Ruth Jonen for his “leadership and commitment” to and his “passionate advocacy” for the Association, the School Nutrition Foundation, and school nutrition professionals.
As an SNA member, Ainsworth has worked tirelessly to support school nutrition professionals, both individually and in his position with SFSPac Food Service Sanitation Systems. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Ainsworth spearheaded efforts to help school nutrition professionals in devastated areas of Louisiana and Mississippi by assisting school districts in acquiring food service equipment. Ainsworth has also taken a professional interest in ensuring school nutrition programs continue to provide safe and nutritious school meals. Through the Clemson University Agricultural Extension, Ainsworth taught food safety classes to child nutrition professionals. He also had all SFSPac managers certified as ServSafe instructors. As a result of his efforts, over 10,000 school nutrition professionals have received ServSafe certification. More recently Ainsworth has helped provide leadership in transitioning school nutrition programs to ‘green cleaning’ solutions.

In her nomination letter, Jonen wrote that Ainsworth “is a passionate advocate for child nutrition programs and the Association.” She noted that he is “one of the kindest, most generous, true gentleman I have had the pleasure to work with,” an individual who always keeps the needs of school nutrition professionals and the children they serve in the forefront.
Join SNA members in congratulating Chuck Ainsworth when the 2009 Individual Industry Member of the Year Award is presented during SNA’s 63nd Annual National Conference in Las Vegas, Nev. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Ainsworth, along with the 2009 SNA Outstanding Director of the Year, will also be honored at the Global Child Nutrition Foundation’s “A Possible Dream Gala” on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in Washington, DC.
