December 14, 2012 – Please join the Global Child Nutrition Foundation (GCNF) on Monday, March 4, 2013, for the 10th annual A Possible Dream Gala. This special event will be held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. Proceeds from the event will help GCNF to realize its vision, “A world in which hunger is not a barrier to children learning.”
This year’s Gala will acknowledge the 2012 champions of school feeding. Arlene Mitchell, Deputy Director of Agricultural Development for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will be presented with the prestigious Gene White Lifetime Achievement Award for Child Nutrition. In addition, GCNF will honor SNA’s Industry Member of the Year, Barbara Jirka, PhD, SNS, formerly Sr. Manager, Customer Marketing for McCain Foods, USA and currently with USDA’s Food and Nutrition Services, as well as SNA’s Outstanding Director of the Year, Sheri Knutson, Student Nutrition Services Coordinator for Rochester Public Schools, Minn.
