Recently, USDA has revised the Child Nutrition Reauthorization 2010: Questions and Answers Related to the Certification of Compliance with Meal Requirements for the National School Lunch Program. This revised Q and A reflect updates based on questions USDA has received and provide additional information on the requirements for the additional reimbursement of 6 cents per lunch. Earlier this month, USDA released a memo addressing Paid Lunch Equity. As part of the interim rule, “National School Lunch Program: School Food Service Account Revenue Amendments Related to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010” which requires school food authorities participating in the National School Lunch Program to ensure adequate funds are provided to the school food service account. Each year SFAs must review their paid lunch revenue to assure compliance with the paid lunch equity requirement. For SY 2013-2014, the reimbursement rate will be increased due to inflation. FNS will be updating the PLE tool soon to include the new reimbursement rate that is increased 4.93%. To read the memo in its entirety, click here.
