Use of Biometrics in Lunch Program

1 Replies, 6623 Views
Started by Michael Gasper
Last Posted to on Monday, November 02, 2009 11:19:12 AM by Crystal Thill
<root>
We use biometric scanners at all of our campuses for purchasing meals. It's wonderful! No lost cards, no forgotten numbers! The only issue is the initial scanning of students (rather time consuming to get them all) and then coming up with a good solution to get new students scanned. Other than that, it's great. We do not use the company you listed, but do use Food Service Solutions out of PA.

Hope this helps,
Crystal Thill
</root>

Vegetarian Meals

0 Replies, 6032 Views
Started by Dawn Ragsdale
Last Posted to on Friday, June 19, 2009 2:15:57 PM by Dawn Ragsdale
<root>
I was just reading the update on SNA from the president stating that almost two thirds of the districts nationwide are now offering vegetarian meals on a regular basis. We are trying to get started on this but we are not having much luck. Does anyone have some ideas that have worked well for your district besides the regular salad or yogurt options.

Any recipes that you have used and the students have liked would be a great help.

Thank you for your response.

Declining local, state and national membership

0 Replies, 7526 Views
Started by Bonnie Heard
Last Posted to on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 12:08:35 PM by Bonnie Heard

Hello, my name is Bonnie Heard and I am the current president of
Wywanna Chapter #29 of SNAPa (School Nutrition Association of
Pennsylvania). I am writing to get some much needed feedback on the
declining membership we are facing. Our chapter use to have over 100
members, and as of current I believe we are around 30--most being Life
members.

My question, have other chapters faced this
same problem, and what have you done to try and turn around the
decline? We have nine different school districts represented in our
chapter. Currently only two FSD/Managers are members of both the state
and national level. All others have either let their membership lapse
and decided not to renew, or as they took over as FSD when one retired,
they never joined.

Also how do you get members to step
up and take an office. The current members have been in their
respective office for the past 4 plus years.

Thank you in advance for your time, and any suggestions or help you may send my way.
