“We continue in our quest to find ways to give back to the membership. We have a full class participating in our Leadership Academy this year and a full class participating in our Culinary Academy. We offered an early bird registration for conference with great response.”

“As ANC will be held in Boston this year, and many of our members have never attended a national conference, NYSNA Conference committees have been designating the profits from their annual basket raffles as funds to go towards a “Boston or Bust” campaign. This campaign was started three years ago and was designed to offer scholarships for members to attend the ANC. Almost $7,000 was raised due to their efforts. Then, the NYSNA Executive Board decided to contribute additional funds from 2012 profits, which increased the funding to $10,000! The scholarship awards are for registration fees and we are excited to announce that we will be sending over 20 members to Boston—many of which are first timers.”

“The creation of the Faith Gravenmier Scholarship will enable more members to become certified and credentialed. Additionally, it was established that scholarships can be provided to cover cost of pre-conferences during national conferences.”

“The President’s Message [in the newsletter] was an idea that I have passed on to Midwest regional presidents and have been asked how we came up with it. I borrowed the idea and it serves the purpose of letting people get to know you. I have been approached by many because they feel comfortable because they know something’s about me and we share daily issues and accomplishments.”

SNA of New Hampshire

“On August 28th a live radio discussion about ‘the worst school lunch you ever had,’ turned into a wonderful opportunity for SNA of NH. Many of our brilliant Directors had called in and proposed that we serve the station, WOKQ, breakfast live the following day. Throughout the morning on August 29th they broadcasted our preparation of what we were preparing in one of our programs that day. I did a live interview explaining the great work of SNA National and State, along with marketing our upcoming event. They loved the food and we were able to promote our programs on the most listened to morning radio broadcast in the state.”
