resized-ChefsTable-logoThe Chef’s Table is an advisory committee of Chefs representing culinary professionals working in foodservice (including child nutrition programs), with a charge to establish a network of partnerships and resources that school foodservice professionals can utilize when working with volunteer chefs and the greater community.

Objectives:
The Chef’s Table committee will offer a tool kit and other resources to help SNA members succeed and will assist chefs in getting involved in schools through the Chefs Move to Schools initiative!

History:
In 2010 Nancy Rice, President (2010-2011) of the School Nutrition Association, established a new culinary-based initiative called Chef’s Table with an advocacy committee of Chefs working and volunteering in child nutrition programs.

The charge of this committee is to establish framework and a resource center for use by school foodservice operators working with local chefs, culinary professionals and advocates in the implementation of programs that link learning from the cafeteria to the classroom, increase food knowledge, and promote healthy choices in the school environment.

SNA has committed to support the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” initiative which includes “Chefs Move.” Through this effort, the Chef’s Table becomes an active partner with the White House and USDA to provide additional areas of support to “Chefs Move.”
