At ANC 2012, SNA will once again align its program tracks to center around the four key areas of the Association’s Keys to Excellence and Certification programs. Whether you are looking to develop new skills, enhance your existing knowledge or simply boost your career, the ANC education program has been designed to provide development and training critical to this profession while allowing you to earn Key Area Hours toward certification.
The ANC 2012 education session tracks are:
Operations: Presentations in this track will demonstrate the importance of establishing a school nutrition environment where policies and procedures ensure worker safety, as well as the safety and quality of meals.
Nutrition: These sessions will cover the A-to-Z’s of nutrition, including how school meal, snack and à la carte items contribute to healthy eating habits and how school nutrition personnel are actively involved in nutrition education at the school level.
Administration: Presentations will focus on ways to manage and administer the challenges of today’s school nutrition program, including ensuring sound business and financial practices, human resources excellence and district organization.
Communications & Marketing: These sessions will highlight ways to promote a positive image of school nutrition programs and work with the school community and allied organizations to promote nutritious foods and nutrition education.
The number of preapproved CEUs that will be awarded for ANC 2012 is 25. The CEUs awarded assumes that members attend 25 hours of educational programming during the conference, including education sessions, general sessions, exhibits, culinary demonstrations and the Child Nutrition Showcase. The 25 CEUs do not include the Pre-Conference Sessions.
Targeted Training Opportunities
ANC is a four-day learning experience tailored to your needs. Whether you’re looking to develop new skills or enhance your existing knowledge, ANC has been designed so you can create a customized schedule that fits your own educational goals. In addition to the pre-conference and education session lineup, ANC 2012 also will feature other opportunities to further target your training to your specific needs.
Chapter Leadership Day: If you’re a chapter leader who needs fresh ideas to help guide your group through a successful year, don’t miss this annual event. Presentation topics will include developing a strong leadership team, planning effective meetings and building membership. This event will be held Saturday, July 14, 8:00 am-12:00 pm. When registering for the conference, please indicate if you plan to attend. Cost: $25 (Includes continental breakfast.)
Membership Section Meetings: These gatherings are perhaps one of your best opportunities to connect with like-minded colleagues from districts around the country, with whom you can discuss shared challenges and exchange best-practice solutions. You’ll also hear from a leader in the school nutrition community and gather information on issues directly relevant to you and your job.
New Directors: Are you a new director (3 years or less)? At ANC, you can attend special education sessions and enjoy networking opportunities designed especially for you!
CN Showcase: This is the place to learn about recent research and best practices in school nutrition, discover interesting ideas being applied in schools and districts nationwide and network with peers.
Learning Lab: Stop by the School Nutrition Foundation’s Learning Lab to discover resources to help you enhance your career, your program and your students. You will find out more about current professional development opportunities, scholarships/financial aid, breakfast in the classroom and more.
CEUs: All ANC attendees will earn 25 continuing education units (CEUs) toward SNA Certification or SNS Credential renewal by attending this year’s conference. The CEUs awarded assumes that participants attend 25 hours of educational programming during the conference, including education sessions, general sessions, exhibits, culinary demonstrations and the Child Nutrition Showcase. The 25 CEUs do not include the pre-conference sessions. SNA will also offer Key Area Hours for ANC education and pre-conference sessions, which can be used to apply for initial certification or for moving up a level.
