Celebrate School Meals Around the World

February 7, 2014 – Mark your calendars: March 6, 2014 (during National School Breakfast Week) is International School Meals Day!

This special holiday was developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and its counterpart in the United Kingdom to raise global awareness about the importance of school meals.

School communities around the world can celebrate International School Meals Day by promoting healthy eating and learning, using the theme Food Stories. Stories, like food, communicate the culture of peoples and their dreams for a healthier and better future, while at the same time bring communities together.

International School Meals Day is a brand new holiday—and SNA encourages all members to recognize it in some way. If all you’ve got time for is a tweet, remember to use the hashtag #ISMD2014.

Visit www.internationalschoolmealsday.com to learn how you can participate and spread the word.
