The School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) in partnership with General Mills will be offering a FREE webinar on Wednesday, May 2nd from 2:00-3:15 pm EDT entitled: “Grains in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs: What Are the New Requirements?"
In this webinar, Eileen Ferruggiaro, RD, Ph.D, Branch Chief of Nutrition Promotion and Technical Assistance in the Child Nutrition Division at USDA, will describe the whole grain-rich criteria specific to school meal programs, as well as identify whole grain-rich products and quantify the amounts that meet the new requirements. This webinar will also explore what additional information may be needed from a manufacturer for a grain product to meet the whole grain-rich criteria.
OBJECTIVES:
The learning objectives of this webinar are:
- Describe the whole grain-rich criteria specific to the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs (NSLP/SBP);
- Identify whole grain-rich products and quantify the amounts to use in meeting NSLP/SBP meal requirements;
- Determine what additional information may be needed from a manufacturer for a grain product to meet the whole grain-rich criteria.
