Pre-con Descriptions
Financial Management: A Course for School Food Service Directors -- The purpose of the Financial Management Course is to provide school food service directors with resources that will enable them to recognize sound financial principles as the primary foundation for Child Nutrition Programs
Child Nutrition 101 is an orientation to the Federal Child Nutrition Programs, with coursework centered on the NSLP regulation. Through interactive exercises, participants will be trained in the core requirements of the Regulation, including nutrition standards, issues relating to confidentiality, the certification and verification processes, and Provisions 2 & 3.
State Child Nutrition Agency Leader Development – Five Dimensions of Influence is about the leader role of the state child nutrition agency staff as partners in fulfilling the purpose of child nutrition programs and program outcomes. The 15-lesson course is about providing state leaders with bags of knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to achieve the state’s mission and goals for child nutrition programs. These tools – knowledge, skills, and strategies – come packaged in the Five Dimensions of Influence. Participants in the preconference will experience one complete lesson and highlights from the entire course.
The 2009 USDA/State Agency will commence with a welcome and opening remarks, followed by an overview of the findings and recommendations from the IOM's recent report, School Meals: Building Blocks for Healthy Children.
