October 17, 2013 – SNA is pleased to announce that registration is now open for a special bonus pre-conference session at the School Nutrition Industry Conference (SNIC), January 12-14, 2014, in Miami, Fla.
The session, “How USDA Foods Champion the American Agriculture Sector and Where’s the Fruit?” will take place from 1:00-4:00 pm on January 11, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency Miami, the site of SNIC. Featuring speakers Dave Tuckwiller, director commodity procurement division, AMS, and Peggy Cantfil, chief nutrition programs food distribution division, FNS, this session will explain the agriculture market cycles in the USA, how they impact the supply to districts and the importance of USDA purchases on the US ag markets, small businesses and the farm community. USDA food purchases support the nutrition needs of schools and food banks and have an equally important mission to support the U.S.’ agriculture sector. Given meal pattern requirements, there will be a special focus on fruit and vegetable markets and the domestic supply chain.
Don’t miss out on one of the top conferences for learning and networking—SNIC 2014 focuses on “Thriving in an Ever-Changing School Nutrition Landscape,” and each day will focus on a key component of the school nutrition profession. This special bonus session is free with your SNIC registration, but you must indicate your intent to attend. A link to register for the bonus session will be sent with your conference registration confirmation. To register for SNIC or to learn more about SNIC, visit www.schoolnutrition.org/snic. And don’t forget, register by November 8, 2013, for early bird savings!
