July 13, 2010 – A study released today by MilkPEP, the Milk Processor Education Program, reveals the impact of eliminating flavored milk choices from school cafeterias.

The study, which measured milk consumption over three months at 58 schools nationwide, found that when flavored milk was removed from the lunch line, milk consumption dropped an average of 35 percent.  Furthermore, the study shows that replacing milk’s essential nutrients would require the consumption of three to four different food items.

More information on the study, released at School Nutrition Association’s Annual National Conference in Dallas, can be found at http://www.milkdelivers.org/schools/flavored-milk/.
