Tony Roberts Named SNA 2011 Industry Member of the Year
National Harbor, MD., June 3, 2011 – Tony Roberts, Proprietor of the Tony Roberts Company has been named the ninth recipient of the School Nutrition Association (SNA) Industry Member of the Year Award. Roberts, who has been involved with child nutrition programs for over 27 years, has worked tirelessly to mentor new school foodservice directors and support their efforts to increase school meal participation. SNA industry member and past Industry Member Award recipient Shirley Brown nominated Roberts for the award, saying that “Tony has been a driving force to help educate directors and industry members on how to partner with legislators to gain funding support for child nutrition programs.” In her nomination letter, Brown praised Roberts as “always ready to put his full energy behind any CN cause or legislative effort be it local, state or national.” She noted that “commitment and plain hard work are two characteristics that Tony possesses as part of his support of child nutrition.”As an SNA member, Roberts has held numerous leadership positions within the Association, including serving as a member on:• “A Possible Dream Gala” Development Committee, 2009• School Nutrition Association Education Committee, 1999-2001• Marketing Advisory Board, 1998-2001Tony Roberts will receive the 2011 Industry Member of the Year Award before his SNA colleagues at the association’s 65th Annual National Conference in Nashville, TN on Sunday, July 10, 2011.
