ANC 2011: A Learning Experience Like No Other

 Permanent link

Did you know that you have the opportunity to become Level 1 certified during ANC? Yup, all you have to do is arrive in Nashville a few days early and attend the pre-conference sessions, “Nutrition 101” and “Food Safety & Sanitation: Serving It Safe.” It’s that simple! You even get an added bonus of a $80 savings when you sign up for both courses. Why pass up such an opportunity? Of course, if you're already certified, there are five additional pre-conference sessions that will cover an array of topics—from financial management and scratch cooking to produce safety and trainer certification. Pre-conference sessions are a great way to earn Key Area Hours for initial certification or for moving up a level.

Of course, if you can’t make it to Nashville in time for pre-conference training, you will still have more than 90 regular education sessions to choose from! With such a broad selection of sessions, you can easily create a schedule that is directly relevant to you, your job and the challenges you face right now. If you haven’t already done so, get a head start on your ANC learning experience by looking over the session lineup and start noting the ones you want to include on your “must attend” list. This week, 11 new education sessions were added, including “First Connections for First Timers” and “The Image of Processed Foods.” Check them out and pick and choose, mix and match the right ones for YOU!

Three of the sessions you may want to include on your conference agenda are those concerning SNA’s new Chef’s Table program:

Sunday, July 10: “The Building Blocks for a Successful Chef’s Move to Schools Launch”
Tuesday, July 12: “Is Your Food Exciting Enough to Turn a Profit & Earn Student Approval?”
Wednesday, July 13: “Too Few Cooks in the Kitchen and Culinary Talent Down the Drain?”

These are go-to sessions in you’re looking to get involved in the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” initiative. The speakers for these sessions, including an all-star cast of chefs, will share their knowledge and experience to help you develop standards for your school’s Chef’s Move program and establish your own network of culinary talent. They will also enlighten you with practical ways to enhance your menus with taste-tested, hot new food trends.

Have you perused through the education session listing? What sessions pop out and are sure to be on your ANC agenda?
